Up until now, Year Glance connected to Google and Microsoft calendars. That covered most people, but not everyone plans their year from a Google or Microsoft account. Some of you run your business from Apple Calendar. Some of you pull deadlines from a project management tool. Some of you just have a webcal link sitting in a system that has never spoken to Year Glance before.
That changes today.
What's new
You can now connect any calendar that exports as iCal or webcal, directly to Year Glance, using a link. This is a read only connection, so it won't let you create or edit events from within Year Glance, but it will pull everything from that calendar straight into your year view alongside your existing Google and Microsoft calendars.
Because iCal and webcal are open standards, this quietly opens the door to a lot more than Apple Calendar. Almost any platform that can export a calendar feed can now show up in Year Glance, including:
- Apple Calendar and iCloud
- Project management tools like Asana, Trello, monday.com and ClickUp
- Booking and scheduling platforms
- Rosters and shift management systems
- Almost any software with an "export to calendar" or "subscribe" option
If it can produce an iCal or webcal link, Year Glance can display it.
How it works
- Open Calendars in Year Glance
- Scroll down to Connect a Calendar
- Select Connect with URL
- Paste in the iCal or webcal link
- Your calendar imports and appears in your year view
That's the whole process. No new account, no app to install, no export file to manage. Once it's connected, it behaves like any other calendar in Year Glance, so you can toggle it on or off, apply your theme, and include it in anything you share or print.
Why this matters
The whole point of Year Glance is seeing everything in one place. Most people's year isn't just Google and Microsoft though. It might be a partner's Apple Calendar, a project board full of deadlines, or a booking system that runs the day to day. Rather than asking you to recreate that information somewhere else, Year Glance can now sit alongside it.
For families, this might mean finally seeing a partner's Apple Calendar next to the school calendar and the kids' sport.
For businesses, this one's bigger than it looks. Different teams and departments rarely run on the same system. Sales might live in Outlook, the project team might run everything through Asana or monday.com, and operations might have their own booking or rostering tool entirely. Nobody wants to force everyone onto the same platform just to get a shared view of the year, and honestly, that's rarely realistic anyway.

A note on how it syncs
Because this is a read only connection, updates depend on how often the source calendar refreshes its feed, which varies by provider and the plan you are on. It won't sync instantly like Google or Microsoft calendars, but it will keep itself up to date automatically.
